I read somewhere a while back of a plan to dismantle the pub brick by brick and reassemble it at the OS - anyone know what happened with that idea?

Built 1899/1900

The Boleyn Tavern is an imposing well preserved multi-roomed Victorian pub in the shadow of West Ham Football Ground. Above the Pub are 10 Rooms, Bathrooms, 2 Offices, Studio Flat and a 2 Bedroom Flat.
Email us for full details and questions so we can answer the queries as best as we can.
The Boleyn features in CAMRA's book of London Heritage Pubs where it is described as "one of the more spectacular late Victorian pubs in London".
A central island bar serves a number of different interconnecting rooms. A longish narrow room with an entrance on Green Street appears to be the preserve of locals and contains a dartboard and some West Ham pictures behind the bar. At this entrance, we see old etched door glass being the names "private bar" and "saloon and billiards" as well has male and female toilets.
The billiards room is the architectural highlight of the pub with a splendid large stained glass skylight and an unusual decorated moulded frieze. The main adjoining saloon bar also has a fine stained glass skylight and some wooden partitions. There's also an original bar counter and some fine cast iron columns.
Above the Pub are 10 Rooms and Bathroom.

i saw it sober for the first time a few years back and it took my breath away. its a stunning building and its right its listed. i hadnt really noticed it until then after decades of being rat arsed and clocking up and down the barking road.

Re: What year did the Boleyn pub open ?
That's an interesting question, I know there's a bit of a campaign going on from CAMRA to make pubs some sort of special local interest order or something to try & prevent them closing as pubs & becoming tesco expresses.. I'm sure they can sling some money at it, bend the rules & open it as a tescos or something & pretend to keep the historic building as it was.. They done it to the Hoover building didn't they ?..

Re: What year did the Boleyn pub open ?
I've been in the pub several times when I've gone to the club shop, (never on a match day) and around lunchtime the pub is empty, maybe it has an evening trade?

Interesting question which begs another.

That is, what is business like on non-game days and during the summer?

Re: What year did the Boleyn pub open ?
Alf Garnett once explained to his scouse git son-in-law that Henry VIII was a West Ham fan. That's why he had the ground named after his wife and the Hammers always played in claret and blue; claret being Henry's favourite wine and blue being the colour of his royal blood. When he caught Anne Boleyn screwing around he had her head chopped off and gave it to the boys to kick off with the following Saturday.
